About GLG
A Family Run Business
GLG Farms are based in the Angus countryside on the East Coast of Scotland. At the heart of Scotland’s arable production area, we have grown wheat, malting barley, vegetables, potatoes and daffodils over the years. As the business has adapted to take advantage of opportunities and skills which new generations have brought, we have streamlined the arable operation to allow the development of the biofuels, firewood and property enterprises.
Our History
The Galloway family have been farming at East Balmirmer in Angus since 1950. George Galloway started farming in 1950 after taking on the farm tenancy from his aunts after WWII. His maternal side had been farm tenants at East Balmirmer since 1894. Additional farms were bought and sold over the subsequent decades but the centre of the current operation is still at East Balmirmer.
The business is currently managed and run by Rory Galloway and his father, Robert. GLG Biofuels started in 2017, GLG Developments in 2021, GLG Joinery in 2022 and the Angus and Grampian Logs businesses were purchased in 2024.
